Thanksgiving is that wonderful time of year when family and friends get together to give thanks for what they have and spend time together. However, it’s also a busy time of year if you are the one doing the entertaining, therefore to make things just that little bit easier this year, I’ve prepared some simple entertaining tips to help.

Prepare Ingredients in Advance

With guests arriving and entertaining being one of the other focuses of Thanksgiving day, to make things easier, it’s always a good idea to prep what you can the night before. Doing things like chopping vegetables and gathering your ingredients together so that you don’t have to waste time digging in cupboards or your pantry can really speed things up the day of. If possible, you can even pre-make some of the food in advance.

Turkey Tips

This is usually the most stressful part of hosting a Thanksgiving dinner but thankfully there are lots of great guides out there to help make the process less stressful. These turkey tips cover most of the basics and I recommend reading them through in advance.

Cocktails without a Bartender

I personally prefer to make a couple of choice cocktails in pitchers so that my guests can serve themselves while I prepare dinner. This leaves the bartending to the guests and it’s far easier than having to make one cocktail at a time for each guest. Here are a couple of delicious ones that are sure to please: Bourbon Apple Cider Sangria and Classic Gin Gimlet.

Decorations

To add to the theme of your dinner, you may want to do a bit of decorating for the event. Thankfully, there are plenty of excellent guides like this one from Midwest Living that offers 35 ideas for easy Thanksgiving decorating.

Don’t Stress and Have Fun

The most important tip of all is to not stress and have fun. By following these guidelines above, your day will be far easier to manage and you, just like your guests, will feel as though everything has gone off without a hitch. Best of luck and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
