My favourite way to enjoy my best girl friends is to have a night in. We might have a movie on but it isn’t the focus. We might bring some crafty activities but they are second to the laughs and chatting that goes on. Nobody wants to put stress on the host so we all bring food and snacks and share amongst us all for a low key, high enjoyment night. Here are some of our favourite things to snack on:
Buffalo Chicken Dip
This is a big group favourite. Everyone loves it and it disappears fast so you’d better get some while you can! The first thing said is; “who wants to get together?” The second is; “Who is bringing the chicken dip?”.
This is a general term really and there are many ways that popcorn has made an appearance at our get togethers. Here is my favourite recipe but you can add in anything you like:
6 cups popped popcorn
1 bag white chocolate chips
1 tbsp shortening or coconut oil
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 1/2 tsp shortening or coconut oil
2 cups mini jujubes
1 cup m&ms
Spread popcorn out on parchment lined baking sheets.
Melt chocolate chips and oil in the microwave on low until smooth. Drizzle over the popcorn.
Melt butterscotch chips and oil in the microwave on low until smooth. Drizzle over popcorn.
Let the drizzle set (place in fridge to speed this up).
Break popcorn up and place in a large bowl. Add in candy and toss to distribute.
This can be fancy or not. We like a variety of meats and pickles and olives. Try a theme if you want to up the fun factor and don’t forget some crackers or a nice baguette to go with it.
We usually pick up a small, ready made fruit platter but if you wanted to put something together try grapes, strawberries, apple slices, pineapple chunks and raspberries! If you grab a ready made platter it might come with dip, but if you don’t, try this chocolate yogurt dip to go along with your fruit.
A few bags of our favourites are always dotted around the room. Candy goes really well with sweet white wines!
This can be simple, in a Brie baker with crackers on the side. I like a blueberry chutney with mine or sometimes we get fancy and wrap it in puff pastry.
Chips and Dip
We don’t usually get too involved here. We like corn chips and salsa, potato chips and creamy dips and veggie chips too. You can make your own dips if you want – this French onion one is amazing.
Food is always a part of our girls nights in, we love yummy things to snack on and we love to share recipes too but the laughs and fun are there no matter what we eat. I hope you plan a night with your besties soon!
